We keep as little as we can, only to run your gift draw.
- Organizers: your Google name and email, and the parties you create (name, date, address, description).
- Guests: the name the organizer added, a 4-digit PIN you choose, your wishlist, and whether you have picked.
- PINs: stored scrambled (hashed), never readable by anyone. Too many wrong tries locks the name for 10 minutes.
- Device sign-in: a random key saved on your phone keeps you signed in for 30 days. "Not you?" removes it.
- Who drew whom is never shown to organizers, other guests, or in our admin views.
- Your wishlist is visible only to you and the person who drew you.
- Organizers see guest names, if someone has picked, and if they have a wishlist. They don't see your PIN or wishlist.
- The platform admin sees totals and party names to keep the service running.
Only to run the draw and keep the service safe. We don't sell your data and don't send ads or newsletters.
Our hosting and database provider stores the data. Google handles organizer sign-in. They process data only to provide these services.
Party data stays until the organizer deletes it or asks us to. Ask us anytime and we will delete your data.
You can ask to see, fix, or delete your data, and complain to your local data protection authority. Contact the operator of The Name Hat at the email address listed on this site.
The app is meant for adults organizing parties. Children may take part with a parent or guardian's permission.
